Progress report

I'm not sure when the painter had planned to originally get all the paint and stain....but she ended up getting it last night at Home Depot. And then brought it all out in her hubby's truck - at 8:30pm. So, she made 2 trips out here yesterday. (again, with the poor time management, eh?). She did show up at 8:30 this morning and is spraying away. It goes very fast with spraying. I actually chose the same paint color that was in our house we had in town. It's called Sand Dollar.

Trying to coordinate other stuff...the contractor had set up the flooring to get started on Wednesday, but we are like "wait....what about the electricians that still need to come in and do all the trim out? We couldn't schedule them until we knew the painting schedule....and I asked the flooring guy...do we want them rolling around on the scaffolding, putting up the great room lighting, on brand new flooring? He's like "um....not really". Good grief. Seems to me like flooring should be one of the last things, so it's not getting ruined and dirty by all the subs still working in the house.

In the meantime contractor decided the framer better get back here Monday and Tuesday to build our staircase before flooring goes in. In the next couple of weeks the inside of this house sure is going to change. Yay. Finally.

I've decided to order some of the Moen bath fixtures I was quoted on from the plumbing supply place from Amazon instead. I will save almost $500. That savings will pay for the copper sink I want!

Plus, I just ordered all the lighting today, from Lowe's and that is supposed to take about 4 days to get here. I put everything in my online cart and then did a search for any coupon codes. What I did come across was 10% off codes for sale on eBay. For .99 I immediately received a 10% off code. Saved me $220!!  I also went through Ebates, so I saved another $22 I will get in cash back. I'm going to do the same thing - buy a 10% off code when I order the appliances.

FIL's house went up for sale this week. They are using the realtor that sold our house for us. She did staging of the house and it looks SO much better! The carpet is still ugly/bad, but boy, just cleaning it all up (and out) and tastefully decorating, sure makes a huge difference. Hopefully it will sell really quick. It's a 1/4 acre corner lot in a decent subdivision.  DH was messaging with this guy on a forum he frequents. The guy has been looking for a home in that area, so DH sent him the link to FIL's house. He seemed pretty interested. He was like - is he looking for a bidding war or would he accept a full price offer? He probably won't be the one to buy it, but I think it will sell quickly.

  1. It sure sounds like you have a lot of things going on! One would think the contractor would know how to coordinate and schedule things properly! But, sounds like you and your husband are keeping on top of things and making sure it all works out the way it should. Hope your FIL's house sells quickly. Spring is usually a good time for home sales, I've heard.

    1. I honestly think this contractor just doesn't care too much. I think he takes on too many houses and then can't stay focused on them.

  2. Gracious, you guys have the patience of saints! Of all the contractors you have dealt with, are there any that you would recommend?

    1. DH and I were just literally talking about that! There have been several that did a good job and did what they said and when/how log they said. Electricians, insulators, hvac and drywall. Three of those are contractors we picked ourselves (because contractor or his subs weren't on the ball)
