H2O

We have water flowing through our faucets again! No thanks to our well owner or her family.  All the kudos go to the 2 neighbors on each side of me.  After a trip to the hardware store this morning they fixed and replaced and got it all going again. Not one finger was raised to help by any of her adult sons or adult grandsons who also use the well. Amazing that 2 guys who are not plumbers for a living were able to fix it all in a matter of hours and a professional needed 6 days! The one neighbor who did most of the work was pretty disgusted with the well owner and her lack of responsibility with the well and the managing of it..and he said there was no way he was going to work on Monday without a shower! I did call the county employee on his cell phone, as he requested, to update him that we had water again and he reiterated that he would be visiting our well owner next week to educate her on proper well management and maintenance, so hopefully she will make some changes.

  1. I am glad you have water again. Hopefully the county will be able to do something because not only does this all seem so unfair its almost dangerous!!!!!!!!

Glad you can shower again though!

  2. You really need to stay on this as she is responsible and liable. Someone needs to document this and take the responsibility away from her.

  3. I just read through your water saga posts, sounds frustrating & would be very difficult for people who have little children! she needs to work out something so it doesn't happen again

  4. Glad you have your water again. I agree with Kim...document this and maybe someone else would like to step up and be responsible for it.

  5. Thank goodness your neighbors were able to fix the well even though that was not their responsibility to do so. That's crazy!

  6. I think someone else needs to take over this responsibility, too. None of her family is responsible enough, they are all the same as her or worse. The only two would be our neighbor who did the fixing (and the one that pays her yearly) or ourselves and it sounds like he and my dh have mentioned it to her more than once over the years. Our neighbor mentioned it yesterday and rattled of a list of things he would do to fix/improve the well house itself (it's falling apart), as well as proper collecting and tracking of the money monthly, etc. I have a feeling things might get changed when the county comes out next week to inspect the well and educate her. I doubt the county has physically looked at the well for years and years. Possibly when they see it they will make her make some changes.

The hot showers for all was nice and getting all the dishes cleaned with hot water was a priority once we got water again! Our neighbor is great. Kind of a loner, single guy our age, but he likes us and we had him over to eat Thanksgiving dinner with us last Thanksgiving and he's always willing to help out with stuff. I'm sure glad he knows how to fix stuff :)
