I wish I knew what is going on with my back. The lower back pain is mostly gone, but I was standing at the kitchen counter at lunch yesterday, slicing and apple, and suddenly pain in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades. It's not hurting this morning, thankfully, but geez....I'm getting tired of this.
I got dh's phone all set up. Surprisingly no complaints or questions. I think it's because for the most part this phone really has no changes from his previous model. I took a couple of pictures last night while I was making dinner and sent them to DD. She replied "nice picture quality!" I said it does look better, doesn't it?
I tried the new to me ready to drink instant breakfast. Tastes fine but the small 8oz carton just doesn't seem like enough to fill me up for breakfast. I know the powdered kind also says to only use 8oz of milk, but I've always put in more, haha. So, I added a little bit of milk to it and liked it better. Not quite so chocolatey. Drinking these should cut way down on how much milk I need to have on hand all the time. Plus I can store most of the cartons in the pantry, since it is shelf stable.
Day 4 and our accounting software is still not working and now (last night) the IT guy deleted our previous version as an option to use, so now we can't get in to work on anything at all. This is ridiculous - this is like an easy process - happens like every year and should have been taken care of by now. Now I'm kind of sitting here with nothing much I can do, since just about everything I do needs this program.
As an "answer" to our state's property tax problem, the apparent solution (and we knew this was going to be their solution, even though the governor has been denying it for 3 years now) is to implement a state sales tax (which has been voted down by the voters like 4x in the past). We already have a state income tax. So now we are supposed to be taxed on our earnings by the state and then taxed again when we spend it. At least when we lived in our previous state, while yes we had high sales tax rates, we did not have a state income tax on top of that. Or like the bordering state - they have an income tax, but no sales tax (like we do now). The legislators want to put it to a vote of the people again...promising this money collected from sales tax will only be used to lower property taxes......unless.....they decide they want to put it in the general fund with a 75% vote of the legislators. Of course. You know eventually that's where the money will end up. How is lowering my property tax, but making me pay a sales tax going to save me any money whatsoever? Are people really this stupid?
I'm glad it's Friday and am hoping I can have a pain free weekend. We need to figure out which day we want to go in and get groceries. It's now been a bit over 3 weeks, but we are still good with food until like next Tues or Wed. I'm kind of thinking maybe just go in tomorrow afternoon and get it done with.
Those are great pictures of Amos.
ReplyDeleteI hope your back is feeling better soon.
Happy Friday, enjoy the weekend!!
Amos is so handsome! I hope your back feels better and it sucks that you cannot work due to the tech issues. We have taxes on our products, HST - so provincial and federal. I think some items don't have it like foods/kids clothing (less or none) and then tampons/pads. We had a tax holiday and it was great! So I would be annoyed if all of a sudden they wanted to tax us.
ReplyDeleteit sounds like they want to include food as taxed. At least the state we lived in before didn't tax food from the grocery stores (but did tax candy, soda, fast food, restaurant food), but taxed every thing else. Now their sales tax is up to over 10%.
DeleteAmos ❤️ is just too much:)
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I didn't remember Amos as orange. He's certainly handsome. I am not anti tax, but want to understand where and why they are spent. I guess I'll have more time to research and follow.
ReplyDeleteI'm not anti tax either, but them "spinning" it that they are going to lower our property taxes by implementing a sales tax is just absurd.
DeleteMay I ask how you are able to open the sliding door if there is a clock on the wall?
ReplyDeleteKristine the Kanadiangirl
LOL - it's a secret....j/k. DH cut a small hole in the wall where the back of the clock sticks out, so it sits flat on the wall and the barn door still slides open ;) At first I wasn't so sure about putting a hole there LOL, but then I realized, even if I get tired of the clock, I will have some sort of picture there, so the hole will be covered.
DeleteI couldn't remember when Connecticut implemented its income tax, so I googled it - 1991. Sales tax started in 1947! I feel like we pay a fair amount in property taxes, too, but that just goes to our town.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are quite a few states that have both income and sales tax, as well as property tax. Most of our property tax goes to the county, but part of it does go to the state, as well.
DeleteIowa has all 3, and their property taxes are higher than Montana. I’m not sure what the sales tax rate is now, probably around 7%. My sister did our taxes this year because we had inheritance from several sources and I didn’t want to do them. She messaged me the results, and said “ I see Montana income taxes still suck”. I just replied yes they do lol. Our license plates here are also crazy. I remember moving to Montana from iowa, where we were paying like $25 each for 2 fairly new vehicles. My Dh went to get his registered here and it was over $300. I waited until my iowa plates expired to do mine. We may not have sales tax, but they get their money way way or another.
