I didn't get time to call SSA yesterday, so I called first thing this morning. This time the recording offered the call back and said it would be about an hour wait. Well, for some reason my phone put the return call through to spam - GRRR! So, I missed my chance to talk to someone and now I'm busy and just going to try again first thing Monday morning and guess I will just stay on hold until someone answers.
I am taking off work early today and we are going into the city to pick up a grocery order. And make one stop at Costco - to use up that rebate certificate before my membership expires at the end of this month. I think we will just buy a couple of cases of Mountain Dew for dh. Then he will be plenty stocked up (in addition to what I normally order from Walmart each trip) and no chance of running low (like happened last month LOL - gasp! it was almost the end of the world!). I started work an hour earlier this morning and told m boss I was taking off an hour early. Her reply was to take the whole afternoon off, haha. See why I love her?!
It's a nice sunny day for a drive, though temps have lowered a bit this week. It's supposed to be overcast this weekend. I'm glad we don't need to do the trip to pick up groceries this weekend. I plan to try making another banana cream pie, again with the sugar free banana pudding, but this time am leaving the bananas off the bottom of the pie. They just ripen, get all brown/mushy too fast and then I don't think the pie is good and it also made the crust soggy. The previous couple of times I made the pie, I would just slice a fresh banana, when we were having a piece of the pie (usually takes us 3-4 days to eat it), and add the pieces to the cut slice of pie, on top, with some whipped cream. I'm in need of some dessert and using the sugar free pudding, should be a low cal dessert to have and it's one of dh's favorites.
So that’s why the banana pie I made last week got a mushy crust. Thanks for the tip. Have a good weekend.
