The propane guy showed up. 10am and minutes after I had to listen to dh rant about if he's going to show up or not this time. Apparently we're going to be able to submit this for a $200 energy rebate, so that is good to help offset a little of the cost.
We've been getting deer in our yard in the evenings. It's right at dusk, so a bit too dark to try to get a good picture of them. For sure we saw a momma and her 2 young ones.
I've made it through day 2 of intermittent fasting. I think waiting to eat this morning seemed harder than yesterday. I've been having my cup of coffee after I eat breakfast now and boy it sure tastes good! The 8 hour window I can eat seems to go by super fast. The hours between dinner and bed aren't too bad, but the 2 hours in the morning until I can eat seem to be the hardest part, so far. I do start drinking water when I get up (and in the evenings). I just have to keep reminding myself that in order to get my normal calories, I need to eat my evening snack in the afternoon, LOL.
We live in a very small community - there's only about 4000 people in the whole county, with 3 small towns. Apparently in the last month there have been 2 drug overdoses, resulting in death, in one of the small towns (pop about 500). Sad. Probably fentanyl. Dh said he had just read an article that one of the large cities in our state recently had like 6 fentanyl OD's in one weekend. Like one of our friends said - what is the suppliers end game here? Doesn't seem good business sense to kill off your customers.......
I started intermittent fasting in 2019 - I haven't eaten before noon since then (unless we're traveling). You'll get used to it! You can have coffee, I think (unless you put cream and sugar in it). I drink Diet Coke in the morning...
ReplyDeleteWhat changes did you notice with the fasting? Weight loss or any other health changes/improvements? I can't stand black coffee, so that is why I've been now waiting to drink it after my fasting period is over.
DeleteI lost 34 pounds over 10 months. Kept it off for four years. Started cheating (eating too much and not stopping at 8 p.m.) and managed to gain back 15, five of which I've since lost again. I exercise every day (walk at least 4 miles, or swim laps) so I can't say the weight loss was completely from the fasting.
DeleteIt's basically cutting calories (by eliminating breakfast) without having to count them.
I don't even want to say how much weight I've lost the last two years since my heaviest. Unintentionally, with my eating for the most part being between 11-7, or usually 12-6, plus the amount of walking I do now and did pre knee surgery, it's just been a slow and consistent weight loss. I've kind of been the same since pre surgery and don't expect winter to lose much, but its fascinating that I've lost so much weight without really trying to, because my life changed so much. Grief and stress, I don't recommend as a weight loss plan.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your grief and stress was a huge factor. I have always lost weight in my most stressful times. I'm hoping for at least a little bit of weight to drop off now.
DeleteSo glad the tech made it, finally. As for the drugs - they do seem to attract small towns - probably easier to make and deal from a small place. They don't have to worry about customers dying - they will be replaced :( Funny enough, I took a picture on my walk to work yesterday. Somone wrote on note for the neighbour and left it on the front of their truck - Stop Dealing Drugs! Yes they deal drugs, I just don't know if no one has called it in properly or the police are dealing with other things.
ReplyDeleteWe tried putting a sign about the drug dealing in our old neighborhood. Didn't do a bit of good. The druggies/or dealers just tore it down and the police didn't care and after 5 years of trying to get them to care, we realized it wasn't going to happen.
DeleteI remember the druggie troubles you had. I was afraid you would be hurt. I wonder what the area is like now.
ReplyDeleteI unwittingly was intermittently fasting. It did not help me to lose weight. Being so ill this last weekend helped. I am ravenous now, making up, I suppose.
At least the guy came so you will not have to listen to husband fretting.
It sounds like the main drug dealing house has changed owners. Apparently a few years after we moved the dad died. The mom somehow got the double wide repaired and fixed up enough to sell. She moved to Virginia or somewhere on the east coast and no clue where the 2 drug dealing sons ended up. I'm hoping the neighborhood has some peace now.
DeleteWe’ve had the same question, why are they killing off their customers? I’ve never tried intermittent fasting myself. My son lost a lot of weight doing that. He also limited his carbs and started exercising. Sue in Mn
ReplyDeleteMy most effective weight loss has been from up alcohol and snacks.
ReplyDeleteIt had become quite a big deal - we'd get out the wine and the whiskey and the snacks before our main meal and a visit to a pub would mean beer for both of us and at least one bag of crisps.
We've been on the new regime for two months and I've lost 5 lbs.
Strangely I don't miss the alcohol - I really thought I would.
I will even have a gin and tonic if we're out with company but it hasn't meant a return to 'old ways'
I don't drink alcohol or soda, but I did like snacks. I'm hoping this fasting will at least trigger a few pounds to go away. I've give up the daily snacks as well as really cut down on eating anything that has added sugar, but it's not helped at all.
DeleteThat first sentence should have read '... giving up alcohol and snacks'!
ReplyDeleteAfter I read your whole comment, I figured that's what you meant LOL!
DeleteJust thought I would add a comment about the drug deaths. It is not the dealer who is killing them. The problem starts with bad mixing when a batch is created. Fentanyl is usually cut with heroin or something like that and the batch must be carefully mixed to make sure the ratio is correct. If the batch is not it can lead to deaths. Anything more than a grain of rice size of fentanyl will kill you. So that's why you see 6 deaths in one city at same time - badly mixed batch that is sold in that city to many people. The 6 who died got the uneven mix where it was more fentanyl and less mixer whereas others got more mix, less fentanyl and survived. How doI know this? I am a retired federal drug prosecutor who understands it all, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI guess when I meant "suppliers" I really meant those who are making the drugs/the source..they obviously want to keep selling, but like jj said - their dead customers are just replaced. Sad. Why lace fentanyl in marijuana and take the chance. But, I suppose it's to try to get them hooked on harder drugs.
DeleteIt's never laced with marijuana - always something harder that mimics some of fentanyl's attributes.
