Another day, another dollar

The propane heater installer never showed up yesterday. Not even a call or text. Companies and service people around here are such a joke. I don't even know why we are surprised by this LOL. This is being installed by our propane company, not some independent self employed guy.

I'm glad we are past the election. It all just gets to be too much. Like I told dh this morning. It really doesn't matter who is in office. The sun is going to come up each day and I still have to go to work each day to survive, no matter who it is or what is going on. The river is going to keep flowing past my house, just like it has for the last 20,000 years. Whether Trump was in office while we were building our house, or Biden is in office now - we still can't get anyone to show up and do any work around here 😜

It's a pretty day outside. Lots of blue sky with some puffy white clouds and a little snow on the mountain tops. The larch in fall color, makes for a pretty pop of color amongst all the green trees. The view out my window today

I still haven't tried making the "Christmas crack" candy in my new jelly roll pan. Maybe I'll wait until Friday morning. I have the day off and we don't have to leave for dh's dr appointment until just before noon.

I just checked the new weekly ad for the other grocery store we shop at for some things. No turkey's on sale this week, so while we are in town on Friday I will be getting my turkeys at Walmart.

Yesterday afternoon, within seconds of each other I get an email from a friend that she is back in the hospital again and a text from my sis that she slid into a ditch, driving in the snow, and wrecked her car. She's a bit sore, but otherwise ok and will have to get her car fixed, of course. I'm hoping friend makes a quick recovery. She's been thru the wringer with her health this past year :(

Not much else is new. DD and two of her co-workers are dealing with another co-worker, who is causing lots of ridiculous drama and she's a victim. She's in her 50's for goodness sake! DD said they are in a no win situation with this lady. If they include her in their general conversations, she's offended by something they say. If they don't include her, she's offended they aren't including her. DD said they were talking about vacationing in specific areas of Hawaii and this lady commented that that's where retired people like to go and dd said "sounds right up my alley, because I'm like an old lady, LOL". This lady actually told their boss she was offended by this remark! Just insane. It sounds like their boss is just as annoyed with this lady as the others are. I told dd that she isn't required to communicate with this lady about anything other than work related stuff, and if she doesn't like it, tough shit. She created the atmosphere herself.

  1. My heart is heavy. But you're right in that no matter who is in office, the average person is out there working their ass off. No surprise about your propane guy no showing- smh.

    1. I just see the elite getting richer, no matter who is in office while the rest of maybe get a little ahead, then get knocked back down and it's just a cycle.

  2. We had a guy that did not show up and did not call. Another guy came and said he was keeping the appointment five hours late because the guy did not come here. He actually argued that we needed to let him come in, that it was a long way and he was working after hours. None of our excuses for not wanting him were valid, though.
I am still heartsick about the election.

    1. I've found myself become indifferent to who won the election, whereas before I would have been very happy Trump won.

  3. We would like to redo our bathroom but like you have found, it is virtually impossible to get anyone to even answer their phone, let alone show up to give us a quote. I miss the days when there were so many reliable service people around that it was easier to get too many bids instead of not enough.

    1. Dh and I were wondering - is it that there just now aren't enough service people/contractor types anymore for all the work and so they're just so dang busy they don't need to call back? Like you said, it used to be so easy to get bids and calls back.

  4. I'm glad the election is over too, although I was quite good a pressing the "off" button this time around. And I feel for your daughter being stuck with a colleague like that. Some people can suck the life out a room just by entering it!

    1. In past years/elections I would have watched a lot of the tv talk about it. I haven't in a few years now and only turned the tv on to see the numbers, I had the sound muted LOL.

  5. I, like you, am at a point in my life where I will be okay no matter what. I worry for my siblings, men with non Amercanized names being targeted, kids in school who individualized educational needs, women, and my daughter. Especially my daughter. I am hoping our guardrails hold this time around. The economy can rebound, but rights once lost, are much harder to reclaim. Injustice pains me to the core, even

    1. (And that should read “injustice pains me to the core, even if I am not the victim of said injustice. If it can happen to someone I don’t care about it can happen to someone I do care about.) also… LOVE that personalized puzzle from a previous post. What a nice gift!
