With dh spending so much time out in his shop working on projects he's already almost gone through the case of blue shop paper towels we picked up on our last visit to Costco. I usually either order them from Walmart or Amazon. Walmart is the cheapest per roll, but why is it every time I need to order something from Walmart I am l literally less than a dollar below free shipping? This time I was trying to order 2 things he is low on: the shop towels and some yellow Windex cleaner. I am 8 cents below $35. Then I have to figure something else to add and that seems to take me hours to think of something......yet as soon as I do, we'll come up with something else I need to order (that would have made it over the $35). Never fails. Plus, what I also find annoying is Walmart online will show items as shippable, but once you try to check out they say they are not.
I finished watching The Whale yesterday. It was good/ok. Not likely a movie that I would watch again, compared to lots of other movies, I have seen numerous times over the years.
I was looking for something in one of my file cabinet drawers yesterday and what do I find? A wifi adapter....so apparently my boss did send me one last summer! Geez! I remembered us chatting about it, but have no memory that I actually received it - and then shoved it in the file cabinet. So, the one I just ordered last month to have on hand, I didn't need! I can't return it now, I've already opened it and threw away the packaging. Oh well, it was only $10.
I'm looking forward to the sun coming back tomorrow for the next week. It's looking like dh will have to start mowing soon. I need to get out there and pull out the dead "stick" from all my daylilies. They pull out easy (there's just a lot of them) and I see the new green growth for this years plants have already started. I'll wait and do that tomorrow, when there is some sun (and Vitamin D) out.
I keep a list on Amazon titled "Add on items" for things that are low cost, but we often use, and so have a ready reference for something small to get me over the free shipping limit. I don't do online at Walmart. Do they have something similar?
ReplyDeletethat's a smart idea. I don't see that Walmart has that option. I do use that list option in Amazon for things I see that I might want to buy in the future
DeleteI sometimes have items in my cart in case I need a "little" something to get me to free shipping. Like you, I try to dodge shipping costs. My go to item if I'm cents away tends to be baking soda. It's cheap, in stock, doesnt go bad, and I can use it for cooking or cleaning.
ReplyDeleteanother good idea! But, I just checked and unfortunately it's not showing as an item Walmart will ship. I'm finding so many food items on not on their shipping list :/
DeleteI have wm+ now so there’s no minimum, but before that I’d usually buy otc medicines we use to get me over the minimum. Now I can just order what I need, and a lot of times they “ship “ it from the store. Today I have a package of sugar cookie mix being “shipped” so I can make a recipe I saw yesterday. Last week I had 2 spices delivered-they cost less than $3 lol. It makes no financial sense to pay someone to drive these things to my house, but they do it lol.

I wish I could get the Walmart "ship" from store, but we are too far away, otherwise I'd most likely have the Walmart+ membership
DeleteThis happens to me all the time when I shop at Chewy. I buy catnip-infused paper bags - it's like $3 for 2 of them - to get me over the free shipping point. The are a favorite "treat" for all our cats.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, this always happens with Chewy for me too! I'll remember that. I've bought those bags in the past (to put in our cat's stocking at Christmas LOL) and he enjoyed them
