Thursday this and that (the selfish and petty edition)

My mom called around 4:20 yesterday afternoon. I'm not even quite sure why she called or what she wanted me to do. I think she just wanted to tell me about a "trip" she was taking. Something about she's going somewhere with 5 others she "works" with tonight..I'm like oh...do you know where (I'm thinking it may be some outside activity her apartment is taking them to?).  She couldn't remember and then within one jumbled sentence something about having to pack for overnight (what?!) then no, we'll be back tonight I think, it's just this evening we're going to see something special. Then she said they asked her to go and only 7 are going and it's on the little bus her apartment has for transportation. Ok. First she said they are leaving at 5:30, then she thought it was 6:30. She said she was getting herself all worried about it and not sure why. I said  well, it's just your memory isn't too good, so you're having trouble remembering what this trip is about. Then she said she didn't even really feel that good now. I said well, if you don't feel well, you certainly don't have to go...."well, they really wanted me to go, because not very many are going and the ladies are really easy to talk to.".

So, after we hung up I texted her caregiver to ask if she knew anything about my mom going somewhere this evening and if she's not there during her meds time I'll have to figure out something for her to take them when she's back. The caregiver texted back they are going to "music in the park". I replied ok, thank you for that clarification! I'm glad she got out for a change, plus I've read music is often great for those with dementia.

I found a show to watch. Several years ago, before we started building our house I remember watching Lost in Space on Netflix. I kept checking for season 2, but never saw one, so I figured the show never got renewed. Well, apparently it was Dec of 2019 when the 2nd season came out and the 3rd season in 2021, so now I have 2 seasons to watch. Nothing spectacular, but an ok show, haha. The nerdy part of me likes these kinds of shows.

We had a nice bit of rain yesterday afternoon, so I was able to skip my flower watering after dinner. I just watered the hanging baskets, which are under the front covered patio area. Still strange to me for it to be 85 degrees and raining, haha.

Dh has spent the past 2 days installing the heater in the Mule/side by side. This part is quite a job and he's still not finished. Mostly because twice now he has dropped a small part and then can't find it, LOL. I called our county licensing lady again to check back in with her (she never called me back from last week) and see if by chance they got the title so we can license it and she said yes, she mailed me the notification card the day before so we can come in anytime to license it now. We'll probably do that today.

Ok, so in addition to being a constant complainer, I'm also now petty and selfish. Okie dokie. Guilty as charged. I shouldn't have any problems with the overflow of fishing/rafting trucks and trailers using my property because the boat launch parking is overflowed and no where to turn around.....a mile and a half away.

If I had wanted to live right next to a boat launch I would have bought the nice, almost $1 million dollar house that was for sale when we were looking. Right on the other side of the road from the boat launch entrance. But we were like, no...we're looking for more privacy and not property right on a public road (hwy) and not right across the road from a public boat launch. So we found property a mile and a half away from the boat launch and on a private road. At first the extra fishermen and rafters, when the parking was full at the (small) boat launch would find a way to park on the shoulder of the 2 lane hwy, outside the boat launch entrance. When that got filled up they started parking in front and on the properties of the several houses across from the boat launch. Those people (selfish and petty, too, I guess) had enough and started putting up big boulders and sawhorses and no parking signs to block the parking and using their driveways to turn around. What's a truck and trailer to do? Well, keep on driving down the road looking for a spot to turn around in. Oh hey, here's a private road, private property, and a private driveway we can use! They won't care if I drive across their landscaping or drive over the culverts. They certainly have no right to complain if I think it would be even more convenient if I could just use their driveway to get turned around, so I'm just going to try to push their closed automatic gate open. Who cares if I break it?! I'm just here to get out and have a good time. How selfish and petty to complain about me.

Whatever, LOL.

Oh and speaking of the almost million dollar house across the road from the boat launch. It was for sale for several years and finally sold last August. The couple who bought it haven't even lasted a year. They put it for sale in May....for 1.3 million and have decided to move somewhere more private, apparently.

  1. I was getting worried your mother was packing to run away...lol. Did she pack for the trip to listen to music?

Ha! It really makes you a selfish person to want control of your property and not have monetary damage to your property. Oh, yeah! And, a complainer to boot! Your situation sounds challenging, to say the least. Do you have a camera to monitor this activity?

    1. when mom said "trip" and then "packing" I was like whoa! hold on a minute, haha. I just said "now, where are you going?". I'm glad the caregiver was able to tell me, haha. We do have a game camera dh could put out....but in all honestly - we lived for 5 years with having to monitor our security cameras from the druggies at our old house. Never want to have to look at another camera again!

  2. Normal complaints about your eyes problems, Mom's aging, delivery and stores are ok but y'all really do come across as democrats because you go overboard. Complaining about guns, boats, dogs, July 4th fireworks, kids riding in the street. Always complaining about everything and wanting to ruin the freedom of everyone around to live their lives. I have noticed a lot of so-called Republicans (RINOs) really hate other's freedom and want to closely regulate them with petty laws and covenants. This country is a free country : Let people be! I personally think your husband (neurotic male Karen) is rubbing off on you. Doubt you would be like that with a more manly man.

    1. Thanks for letting me know what's ok to blog about and what's not, LOL.

    2. I enjoy your blog and have no problem with content. If I was annoyed I can simply CHOOSE not to read! Simple!
Really, who would be ok with trespassers and having their gate rammed open!? Ruining their freedom?

    3. Thank you Susan. To be honest I had typed almost the exact same thing out you just said. Not to mention we didn't write or install the "petty" covenants. They were in place when we purchased the property and we agreed to abide by them, just as I would expect the other property owners to do.

    5. Monica - apparently reading a blog of a person she doesn't like is an enjoyable way to spend part of her day, haha.

    7. I do not DISLIKE you. Also I do not read your blog for 'enjoyment'. The US is on a horrifying and destructive trajectory and I read conservative blogs like yours to assess the caliber of people on our side and the practically of hope. Soc Med is an easy way of finding this out. Not personal. Rest in Peace.

    8. Leslie - well that is very interesting. I didn't know my boring daily ramblings about every day life have much to say about anything as important as that, LOL. But, hopefully we aren't too lacking in caliber.

    12. Both on this internet streets. Soc media hate conservative view. One has to duplicate acc to keep up with the banning. Lol. Banned permanently on Twitter for saying 'blacks in the ghetto have a lifespan of a fruit fly with all the gangbanging'. It is absurd.

    13. Sorry to hear that. You have good side to you, though. Well, continue hanging with the politically correct, tyrannical anti-American crowd

    14. What in the world does my blog have to do with politics anyway? I'm anti-American because I complain about dogs, neighbors, my street and listening to a gun being shot for hours? So, I've mentioned (over years of blogging) I'm conservative and voted for Trump and vote republican - big deal, so is about 50% of the rest of the population. How ironic that I'm being judged for complaining about things in MY life, while almost everyone of your comments is complaining about others and their beliefs.

    15. Fran'd really have a pissing fest reading my blog! I'd chalk these rants to someone that mistakes freedom with responsibility, that living in a human society requires. Your last response hit the nail on the head with right or left wing nutter extremists. Lighten up for Pete's sake and stop looking for fights or justification for extremist views. Liberal or conservative, most Americans just want health, wellness, and to not have our personal rights attacked, but also recognize we're not baboons in the wild.

  3. First Fran said you come across as democrats because you go overboard and then insinuates you are a republican. lol The icing on the cake was saying you needed a more manly man. I'm still laughing :)

    1. and a "Rino" republican at that! OMG, I'm dying laughing over the manly man, too.

    2. One Family has openly said she is GOP. Holly, I did not 'insinuate' about being Republicans. Please read English with an endeavor to understand. I am saying that there are many people who fake Republicanism (Freedom values), when they are natural-born DemoCrats aka RINOs.

Dems and their RINO collaborators hate Freedom and want to regulate the thoughts and deeds of everyone. For e.g. complaining non-stop about people use of guns. Lunatic dems are even legally forcing free citizens to call men 'women'. A day is coming when the US will return to operating as a Free State and to its founding values. One Family needs to change their mindset or take cover with the Dems tyrants. (I do like how she treats her mother and her hard-working ethics) Cheers.

    3. Well, thank God I have you to set me straight on what I can and can't blog about and what I can think about things! Whew - I mean after 58 years of living I guess I really need someone who will set me straight. I mean, who am I to complain about someone's "freedom" to trample all over my property?! Excuse me while I go get Karen to stop doing the laundry today - that is so unmanly of him!

      Delete
    4. Leslie aka Fran - I'm a republican (not a Rino) and I 100% agree with One Family on the issues of guns, boats, dogs and July 4th fireworks. Also boaters driving across their property. If you value freedom so much than why begrudge One Family the freedom to not endure an excessive amount of unnecessary noise? You should read English with an endeavor to understand her point of view. I certainly understand it.

    5. I'm apparently supposed to take life advice and get my mind right, not to mention find a manly man from someone who can't even be honest and use the same name when commenting - that's rich! I don't even look at anything I supposedly constantly complain about has anything to do with which side of the politics you lean. How about people just act with some basic human decency and respect towards each other?

      Delete
    6. And for what it's worth, Fran, (or whoever the *@%^ you are), those founding values you seem to want to return to, would preclude One Family being able to even have a voice. Study some U.S. History. And it seems to me, you telling her to "change her mindset" shows YOU are the one who wants to regulate thoughts. So piss off.

    7. Honest? Irrelevant. Ask President Donald Trump why is it is necessary to have duplicate acc on soc media with the banning squad. Also, you should protect your home. That is your right. Just not the streets, or your neighbors or people doing gun practice.

    8. Although, I may mix a bit with the RINOs but totally draw the line at talking to a Dem (a total waste of time interacting with those lunatics). So tell your Dem friends to not waste their time by addressing me. Lol

      Delete
    9. Wow Fran/Leslie! What a peach you are. I'm not sure there would be many conservatives who would want to interact with you. Your excuse for commenting under two names is to blame Trump? And for your information, I OWN the property this street crosses through, not to mention on the other side of it. The people that live on the lots past me have an easement to drive through my property to get to their property (just as the rest of us have an easement to pass by the first 2 lots owned by Mr and Mrs Neighbor.

    10. Blame Trump? Are you people on this blog-side slow? Oh dear God! I am beginning to despair. I refer to President Trump because he was a victim of the Twitter ban squad. The President of the United States was banned from Twitter by the liberal Nazis. How could you not know that and you say you are a follower of Trump?
Say what! Don't bother to answer. There is no hope here. Barren land. Bye.

    11. Was just trying to see why need to comment under 2 different alias's? You referenced Trump. Not to mention I rarely post anything about politics on my blog, yet according to you that is why you read it? Weird.

  4. Well, *THIS* liberal democrat would be furious if someone kept turning around in my driveway, let alone with a boat on a trailer. I am now on a public road with the recent move, but up until this, we had a private road, just 2 other families on it, and I made sure I made it my business to know who, and why people were on it, particularly when I knew neighbor kids' mother was at work. My driveway is long, (I'm still on acreage) and if someone I don't recognize comes up it, I'm going to give a long, hard stare with phone in hand.

    1. Meg B. - don't blame you one bit! DH will do the same if he happens to see a car he doesn't recognize on our private street. One time, the neighbor lady at the end (younger gal and was pregnant and a little one home alone at the time) saw someone had pulled down our road and parked in front of the lot next to her. She texted dh and asked if he could go check on who/why there were there. Like I said above - what any of my complaints have to do with whether you are a D or an R is beyond my mindset of understanding.

  5. Fran/Leslie Wow. Why all the insults towards One Family? As a strong conservative, my views align spot on with hers. Never in a million years would I call her a Democrat or a Rhino, or think she was either one. Even if I did, I don't believe name calling is a productive way to communicate. And to say she needs a manly man?! Wow, just wow. I guess it made for a good laugh though, so thank you for that!

    2. Agree 100%. The extreme R & L people are who are causing the ugliness in this country & it angers me to no end! Let's all just use or brains and COMMON SENSE when it comes to the news. Sounds to outrageous - probably is, but do your homework, check on various reliable news outlets, discuss with others, etc. You just don't take someone's word for something just because they spew it. For crying out loud - the stupid in this country is just baffling to me.

    3. The sad part is it's the extreme on either side that get all the news and press so people start thinking this is the "normal" now. I don't know if it's me just getting older, but the last year or two I have found myself growing weary of even trying to follow what is going on anymore. I hate burying my head in the proverbial sand, but I'm to the point I'd rather just be a crazy old cat lady, LOL.
