Low key Sunday

On FridayDH did end up calling the Fish, Wildlife and Parks department to "complain" about the overflowing amount of traffic at the very small boatlaunch 1.5 miles from us. He got transferred around a bit but finally got a guy. He wasn't aware of this boat launch having an issue/impact on neighbors of it, but said they are dealing with a couple areas that are really bad. He said a lot of it is now due to everyone and their brother deciding to become a fishing guide for pay. He said in some areas they have had to restrict the amount of boats that can launch/be on the river at any time. He said he'd come take a look at our boat launch and add it to their list of problem areas that they have been trying to come up with a solution for.

Yesterday was actually very low fishermen traffic and when I drove by the boatlaunch on my way home it only had 3 vehicles/boat trailers parked on the shoulder. It was a really nice day, too. Dh is wondering if it's because there is a county fair in our town and one in the city going on, so maybe people were off doing that instead of being on the river yesterday.

My right eye is still bothering me just a bit. Nothing during the night (I put ointment in) but this morning now every time I blink I feel like a speck of dust is in it, which is annoying. So far so good with my back now.

So, I did call our county vehicle licensing office Friday morning to see if they received the title from the dealer. Nope. I said well shoot - I called there last week and she told me she mailed it to your office last Tuesday, 9 days ago....The lady offered to call the dealer and check with them and I said sure, that would be great - but she never called me back! My guess is they mailed it to the licensing dept of our state capital, not our county. I guess I'll give her a call back on Monday and see if she found out anything. I suppose it's also possible she wasn't able to get ahold of the lady at the dealer who handles the titles on Friday.

I don't know what I'm doing today. haha. I need to vacuum upstairs at a minimum. Mostly I still don't feel ambitious to do much of anything at all. I'm sure dd will message me to tell me about the backyard bbq they had yesterday for the people and their families that work under her dh. She's a good planner and he's a good bbq'er, so I'm sure it was good. I think dh is done working on the side by side for the time being, as he's still waiting for add on parts to come. Tomorrow and Tuesday the heater and windshield washer system he ordered is supposed to get delivered, as well as the pressure washer he ordered months ago. Those things should keep him really busy all week then!

  1. I think you need a low key day. Take it!!
I'm glad your back is a bit better. Maybe skip the vacuuming for today. :)

    1. We think alike! After I got dressed, cleaned the kitchen, watered some flowers and shrubs and gave a few Miracle Grow I decided vacuuming can wait while I give my back another few days to stay good.

  2. I was thinking the same thing--skip vacuuming today. What was wrong with your eye last time? I forgot.

  3. I think maybe if your eye is still bothering you after about a week let the pharmacist have a look at it. Probably nothing but better to have it checked out. x

  4. Why would you complain about people using the boat launch? Just people wanting to get out and have a good time. Seems really petty and selfish to complain.

    1. There isn't enough parking at many of the boat launches and then the trucks and boat trailers park on the shoulders (ok) and then when that runs out they start parking on peoples properties (which the people that live around the boat launch are now blocking off. In our case they still can't find parking so have to keep going down the road a mile land a half until they can find somewhere to get turned around with their truck and trailer.....so let's use my property and drive across our yard and break our gate trying to use the nice half circle driveway. Why should them getting out to have a good time affect and cost me money because they can't be respectful of others property? DH's "complaint" was to see what FW&P dept knew of the overflow there and if they had any suggestions. Or maybe they just need to realize this boat launch is now overflowing with use and they need to figure out adding some additional parking area. The fisherman and rafters can launch all they want, I could care less, but my property isn't their turn around area.If that seems petty and selfish then guilty as charged. I guess we could start charging them a fee to use our property to turn around and that can go towards fixing our culverts they drive over and our gate they try to force open.

  5. My DH would be irrate if our yard/ driveway was used by boats and trailers. That's really unacceptable. I think your county/ whoever is in charge needs to figure a better parking plan. The disrespect is one thing and enough, but someone's going to get hurt if trailers are backing up and pulling out willy nilly. Or, tensions will run hit if someone gets boxed in. They could start marking No Parking and once parking is full, it's full. Then the county can deal with those complaints.

    1. That's what we were thinking - they need to have a "full parking" and once it's full they can't launch there. There is another huge boat launch about 10 minutes further down the road. It's got acres of flat parking and is never full. When I drive passed that boat launch area when it's full, I drive so slow because you never know if someone or kids will be there or someone suddenly deciding to pull out. It's kind of a mess there when it's busy season.
