Short and sweet

I felt fine yesterday. Got the chicken coop cleaned out and fresh bedding. For some reason our cell service was out most of yesterday, off and on. I had texted neighbor down the street, who still wanted the clean out for her compost. Finally, the text went through, but took awhile for her to get it. After she did reply, dh said let's just take it down to her, he'd push the wheelbarrow. We could use the walk. Little guy saw us coming up to their driveway and came running full speed to greet us, LOL. He was excited to tell us he started school this past week (pre K). Dad was busy putting in a neat flat stone patio area. We visited with them a bit and then headed back, but not before dh noticed a bunch of pine cones on the ground at the edge of their property so we loaded up the wheel barrow, with help of the little guy. We almost have our island filled in now with pine cones. Probably just need one more load or so.

I took a nap. Got up to find dh outside doing something with the shovel....trying to get a snake that was on the concrete between the garage and shop. Said he had just minutes before found a garter snake. Came back and there was this other type of snake right there. Ugh. He HATES snakes. Even tiny little ones.

I finished my book (that I apparently had already read) and started another one, but couldn't get into it. So, tried the next one in my downloaded library books, but it wasn't good either. I just didn't care for the writing style of either or the storylines. Now, I'm back to no books to read and 2 days off. Boo.  I'll find something to read, hopefully.

I don't think dh will be mowing today, probably will be tomorrow. He is starting to feel better and more energy, so that's good. His appetite is back but he said most things don't really taste good. He has had a couple of mountain dews (ugh) but said they don't taste good now at all. The past couple of days our air has been all smokey again. Just when the temps cool down and we'd feel like sitting outside on our patio furniture, now it's too smokey.

I need to mop the floor downstairs today, but might wait to do it if he's mowing tomorrow. It's easier to mop when he's not inside trying to walk around. I'll ask him when he gets up what his plan is.

Otherwise just plan to relax the next 2 days of time off.

  1. You might like Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey. It was made into a drama starring Glenda Jackson. An elderly lady trying to solve a mystery while showing symptoms of dementia. But is it all dementia? I really enjoyed it.

  4. We don't have any pine cones in our neck of the woods. I miss them. I bet you have nice big ones in the NW.
I'm glad your dh is starting to feel more like himself.

  5. Now would be the time for DH to kick that Mountain Dew habit - he's been without it for so long, has already gone through withdraw, so hope he can change to something else (water with Crystal Light flavoring is really great!!). Anything that would be healthier for him! That stuff is so so bad for him. :-(
