Some mail I received from one of dh's upcoming doctor visits - with new patient paperwork, etc, had note stamped on it "postage due" and 20 cents written in. I have received one of these on occasion over the years, but usually they include a little envelope. I guess I will just tape 2 dimes to it and stick it back in the mailbox.
Remember the damaged wagon wheels I received back in June, from Tractor Supply? And they were supposed to send me a replacement order at no charge (and she credited me half my shipping costs as a concession). Welp - still haven't received the replacement ones! I got an email July 9 that is supposedly arrived at that same shipper's warehouse. Then I got an email saying they were going to pick up the damaged ones (but I can't find that email now). Ok, but no one has contacted us or come to pick up the damaged ones. I sent an email a few weeks ago asking for update on status and got some email back about my return was processed for $0. Whatever that means. Finally, yesterday, I decided to call. At this point I don't even need the dang wagon wheels! We ended up getting tired of waiting and decided to use the rope on the bridge instead. But, I have paid for these broken ones I still have, so something needs to be done. Finally, after being put on hold for 10-15 minutes she came back and said she can just refund me, if that's preferable, so that is what is being done. I should be seeing about $95 credited back on my card. Though they still want to pick up the damaged ones...ones that undamaged are only worth $50 (less their cost) and they are going to pay over $90 in shipping to get them back. Stupid. Just write off as scrap. We have a policy at work that if the sample we want to return to the mfg costs less than the cost to ship it back, we'll just pay for the sample and not return it. Not to mention we already paid the shipping cost to get it to us. The credit hasn't shown up on my card yet, I just checked this morning. Why is it they can instantly charge your card and it shows up, but a refund takes days to show up?
I was making dinner and my phone was buzzing, I missed 2 calls from someone with an out of state number and a voicemail. Turns out it was someone my new homeowners insurance sent out to take outside pics of house and they were out at the gate by the shop. I went out there and showed them where there is a walk through part on each side of the main gate and to come on in. Figured they could just leave their car outside without having to open the gate. They were a married couple from Idaho, who does this for a living. They seemed nice. Mostly he walked around and got pictures. I chatted with her a bit, then she went in back where he was, to take more pics or notes or whatever. She came back to the front first and was telling me how much she liked our stamped concrete...does it get slippery when wet? (no, they had us sprinkle some stuff on it called "Shark Grip" before we sealed it). Then he comes out front and says the same thing, LOL. I guess they had some friends with stamped concrete and it was really slippery when it rained. They were younger (well, younger than me, haha) but I thought this seemed like a good job for a retired couple to have.
A couple showed up around 6:30 or 7 last night to look at the properties next door. I could see them walking around out our living room window that is in the side of the "bow" of our back windows, so it faces the side. Gladys Kravitz (ie DH!) went out to the front yard with our dog, who of course saw the people on the next lot and barked (though he doesn't bark incessantly, his is just a hello bark) and ran up to the fence. The lady saw him and dh so of course she and her husband walked over to talk to him. I didn't go out there. An hour or so later I hear neighbors on other side dogs bark, so I figured the people must have driven out. I look out our bedroom window where I can see where they had been standing at the fence and no one there. By 8:30 it's getting dark and I'm like where is dh? I go outside and don't see him, don't hear anyone talking in the distance. He's not in the shop. Finally I text him "where are you?". About 15 minutes later he texts he's down on lot 5 talking. OMG. Mr. "I can't just stand for very long, I'm in too much pain" (I've heard this for years, but for anyone else, he'll stand there for hours) was out there with them for like 2 hours. Finally, he comes back in. I'm like are you trying to sell those lots??!! Knock it off! He's like well, ya...but they were really nice (they always are first meet, haha), they'd be good neighbors to have. They are about to be empty nesters and just want peace and quiet. They live in another state, about a 3 1/2 hours drive. I'm like they drove all this way to just come over for the evening? he's like no, they've been looking at other properties around and farther up north all day. They had planned to look at one more property after this one, but they were here too long talking to me, LOL. They were trying to decide to drive back home since it was so late. DH told them the motel in town is decent. It does sound like they thought the asking price of these lots is too high and asked dh if he thought the guy would take less. dh said he didn't know the guy, but figured he probably wouldn't take less than he paid for the lots 13 or so years ago and told them what the lots were sold for back then (around 2007). Then I let dh know I don't ever want to hear from him again how he can't stand somewhere for 5 minutes with me, but can do it for hours for anyone else, let alone people he doesn't even know. Especially after being already worn out from mowing yesterday. Oh well, it gave me a quiet evening, haha!
Ok, time for work. Gotta keep plugging away towards my goal of being caught up.
That is funny about him not being able to stand with you. Now, you have a comeback for when he says that again. I would be rightfully annoyed about the wagon wheels. I was eager to see if they threw the replacement wheels on a truck, too.
ReplyDeleteit's really idiotic how much these wagon wheels have cost Tractor Supply! First shipped so ridiculously poor. Then supposedly reshipped (at another $90) and then they want to pay another $90 to ship back the broken ones!
DeleteGladys Kravitz!!
