DH has changed his diet quite a bit, so far. (but he's still not feeling the greatest yet) The doctor told him he can eat what he wants, but if something seems to bother him, then don't eat it. For breakfast he has been having Cheerios with bananas cut up. He has not had his normal (for 30+ years) lunch, which was lunch meat and cheese sandwich, with mayo, on wheat bread, chips, hostess cupcake and a mountain dew. Now he typically has soup or some Ritz crackers with cheese and lunch meat. To drink is sugar free Gatorade or water. Dinners have been a variety, but not as big of dinners as before. Snacks are watermelon or oranges. He has had some orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream a few times. When we stopped at the town store they were out of the orange and vanilla ice cream, so I bought a half gallon of orange sherbet and a half gallon of vanilla. It turns out it's better that way LOL. The ratio of sherbet to vanilla is even now, rather than 2/3 orange and 1/3 vanilla. haha. Speaking of the correct ratio - when dd and I were grocery shopping and didn't get to have lunch that day, we grabbed candy bars at check out. I grabbed a Reeses. Well, I didn't realize it was a different one called "peanut butter lovers". Is this new? Well, the ratio is wrong! I've been eating Reeses peanut butter cups my whole life. They are perfect. Don't mess with the peanut butter to chocolate ratio, LOL.
We have a ton of Mountain Dew in the pantry........as well as various bags of chips.......
I'm still waiting to see the claims for dh's hospital visit and doctor appointment. I did log in to his insurance yesterday and now it's showing 6 claims in pending status, but nothing is showing yet on how much the charges were. Everything just says zero, so far.
DD had ordered something on Amazon. Some kind of "curb ramp" to put at the end of their driveway to pull car in and not hit the underneath of the car. It was $400! Well, the 3rd party seller shipped it to the wrong address, so DD didn't get it. She messaged seller that it showed delivered but she didn't get it. Then they realized they had used some other address. So, they gave her a refund and told her to re order. She went to reorder and they upped the price $100! She messaged back asking them to honor her original price in the re order since they were the one's who made the mistake and they wouldn't do it. Very poor customer service. So, she went and ordered a different one from some place else.
This afternoon is my annual check up. This is with a fill in provider, as mine is on maternity leave. I'm also hoping she can just use the printout I bring, where a few months ago I had my blood work done for that extra life insurance. Otherwise I'll have to make another trip in first thing some morning to have it drawn.
Our neighbors left this morning to go visit their son and family and will be back on Sunday. This time they are trying out using a young (college age) lady to dog sit, so that they don't have to take their one problem dog to a kennel in the city. They don't mind leaving the other two, but this one acts up if they are gone that long. DH knows her dad and had visited with him several months ago (when trying to figure out who was doing the shooting over near his place) and met his daughter and came home and said she is very mature and responsible, she'd be good to have dog sit, LOL.
I needed to add a few more items to my Walmart order but it's too late to add to my existing order. So, I thought I'll just add a 2nd order to pick up. I thought there was a $35 min, but my total was less than $20 and there wasn't anything on the screen about min order, so I started to place the order and there was a pickup option that just said pick this order up anytime after 12:45pm today, we'll hold it for 4 days. And there were no p/u times avail for my scheduled time, but I guess since it's such a small order you don't need to reserve a specific time. That works for me. I was not looking forward to having to go into the store (or any store) to get those few items.
I'm going to go in and see my mom for a quick visit before my dr appointment. When I was there on the 15th of August I wrote down in my notebook how many pills of each med she had left, so I could count the next time and see if she's missed any doses. Then I will know for certain how she's doing and can then decide if I need to try that medication dispenser or not. I'm guessing I will need to get it for her.
I really hate it when my food is changed! Is your husband losing weight? I ordered something that ended up in Colorado or somewhere and it was resent. They said I could keep it if both arrived. It did not arrive. Sometimes things go really wacky with orders.
ReplyDeleteI hope his different food helps him. His body must be in shock after so many years of the same foods. But, I don't require variety. Tommy cannot eat the same thing three days in a row.
Hopefully, the new pill dispenser works to keep your mother on track.
He is loosing weight, but so far what he has lost was extra available to lose. I like a little variety in foods, but don't need a lot.
DeleteI know what you mean about the ratio of chocolate to peanut butter. lol Don't mess with perfection!
ReplyDeleteAre there foods they told your dh to avoid? I knew a guy that had pancreatitis & it took him a few months to get back to "normal". He was in the hospital for 2+ weeks.
I hope your appt. goes well.
That's baloney about your dd's ramp. Ridiculous!
We asked the doctor if there is anything he shouldn't eat and she just said no, but often it's fatty foods that bother people and if he eats something that aggravates his pancreas, then avoid it.
