It took a bit of time on a call, but the benefits advisor, through my employer, was finally able to find the answer my question about what happens to the deductible of $3200 I've already paid out for this calendar year, if I switch in June to a plan with a $500 deductible. I would have to wait until January of 2026 to actually have the $500 deductible go into effect.....in the meantime I would be paying for 7 months of higher premiums for this plan, costing $288 more per month. NO THANK YOU! LOL. I passed on what I learned about it to my boss (who contracts our benefits) and she wasn't very happy about the answer. I didn't ask the advisor what would be the answer if, in June, I was a person who wanted to do the opposite: switch from the $500 deductible plan to the $3200 deductible plan, but I can guess the answer would have been "oh, the $3200 deductible goes into effect June 1st". LOL.
I will be staying with the high deductible/HSA plan. In every scenario overall out of pocket for the year (including premiums) the high deductible/HSA plan saves money. The only scenario where it seems it may not, is if someone was on a VERY expensive medication.
If it was just me, who I needed to insure, then the $500 deduct. plan would be my choice....because it would be free to me, so I wouldn't have to factor in the premiums in yearly cost, but since I have to insure dh and pay for him, the high deduct. plan is the way to go.
When I was walking back down our street, from getting the mail yesterday, right after I got in front of our fence, Amos jumped out onto the street and did a fake attack on me, LOL. Then he stalked me all the way back to the house.
The deer in the area sure have been liking the lot next to us. Last evening we saw a group of 6 of them.
I'm about halfway through season 2 of The Morning Show. I don't think it's quite as good as the first season, at least so far. Now I see AppleTV+ is offering new and returning customers $2.99/mo for 3 months. Darn - I just missed getting that deal by a week. I tried to cancel my month subscription I signed up for a week ago and then get the deal, but because I'm paid up thru May 3rd, it's not considering me returning and the deal apparently only goes through 4/24. There is a new show coming mid May that I really want to see (based on a book series I love) but I think I'll let the season of it get through most of the weeks it airs, so I can just pay for one month and just binge watch it, rather than paying for 2 or 3 months to watch it each week (I'm not sure how many episodes it will be. Most likely 8-10).
DH's new office chair will be here today. That will give him a project - putting that together. Now...if I will just be able to get him to throw away the old chair! rather than just putting it out in his shop...because he might could use it/need it......
LOL...I was thinking he might use it out there.
ReplyDeleteit's always a good possibility with him, LOL
DeleteI am glad you got it sorted out. Sure glad Amos is doing his spot checks ;) LOL time to trick DH to toss the chair out!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to have the answer. It's good to have all the facts when trying to make a decision and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything on what might be the best plan, financially.
