When our friends were visiting they mentioned they both use this "foam roller" on their backs. I was like what is that? Well, it helps adjust/pop your back. Oh boy - that is so what I need! They both said it was really painful the first few times of use and then it got much better/easier and has really helped them. I ordered one from Amazon the next day. It arrived Friday night, so (after watching some videos, too) tried it. Right away got a pop or 2 in my back.
Saturday morning I was a bit stiff in the back (assuming from the adjustment, which my back hasn't had a good one in a LONG time) and then as the morning went on my back started hurting more and more and feeling like I had a pinched nerve. It was getting pretty painful. I knew I need to try the roller again but I was being a big baby because I knew with the pain I was having now it it would really hurt this time. I was about to head back to bed with the heating pad. But, I made myself go upstairs and roll back and forth a few times. Felt the pop. Got up and the pain was gone! Just like that. I'm hooked on this thing now. I went from in pain and it hurt to move to feeling better instantly. Crazy. DH even tried it.
And speaking of chiropractic, my dog got a spine adjustment by a chiropractor yesterday. Lucky dog! LOL I'll write more about this tomorrow. I'm pooped just from my quick trip in to see my mom and pick up groceries this morning! Plus we have our neighbor's picnic to go to in a couple hours.
I had to call my mom again at 7:15 this morning. She didn't seem like she was too happy to hear me tell her she needed to get up and go down for breakfast."Oh....ok..." So, I repeated again about how we don't want her to miss any meals, especially breakfast, as that isn't good for her memory. I said you can't go from dinner the night before to lunch the next day without eating. She said "I suppose you're right". Then I reminded her I would be there at 10am. Of course she didn't remember that, though she must have called me 3 or 4 times yesterday to either ask when I was coming or if I was bringing her some money.
First thing I do is start looking for her lost apartment keys. I got lucky and the 2nd dresser drawer I opened I found them buried under socks, as well as part of her wallet was in there. There's a folded over part that removes that holds cards. Found her actual purse with the remaining part of the wallet in the drawer below. I plugged her tv back in (of course she didn't unplug it! someone was in her apartment and did it!). But, I couldn't get the tv to sync with the cable box. It kept switching from hdmi 1 to 3 and I was getting frustrated as well as it was now past time when I wanted to leave (and go get my groceries). Finally I gave up. I also made her go downstairs and get another Styrofoam coffee cup so I could cut it down (AGAIN!) and create the little cup that needs to be sitting under her med dispenser to work. Again I wrote on it "Pill Cup KEEP". While looking for her keys in the desk drawer I found the previous cup - filled with change. I also got the camera under her tv turned back around. I had brought this double sided really sticky tape with me...or at least that's what I thought it was but I'm thinking it was some of that weather stripping stuff you can line along a door to keep drafts in. So, I couldn't stick it to the underneath of the shelf, dang it. I pushed it to the back of the shelf and just used some of her scotch tape to hold it down. Again, hoping she doesn't even notice it's there and it stays put now. I also got her alzheimers clock that I had gotten for her bedroom plugged back in. I (think) I adjusted the brightness down so it won't be so bright at night, but I'm sure she's just going to unplug it again. She tried to tell me she must have unplugged it so she could move it out to her living room to know what time it is....I said you have another clock right here in your living room.
When I left I stopped at the office and talked to 2 ladies there and returned the extra key they had given her. They were like "oh good! you found them!". I also asked if the maint. guy can see if he can get her tv working. The one lady said her mom lives there and she's starting to deal with the same issues I am with my mom. I told them I'm really not sure how much longer I will be able to keep her there, as she's getting worse.
I also found (she had taken out of her wallet) an extra check. She'd been telling me all week she needed a check or $20 cash to pay this lady for the apron. I didn't think she had another check. But obviously she didn't even know what it was on her table. Plus, I saw a little note she wrote that she owed the lady $20.00.....but she wrote it as $20,000!! Ya....so she's not going to be writing a check unless I'm there so I took that check with me. She went and found the lady and paid her, while I looked for keys, added meds, etc.
My grandmother was always reporting a man coming in. But, the person had a knife, a big knife. A man said his wife wrote a check for $6,000.00 check instead of $60. Thankfully, the person to whom she mailed the check called the guy and the woman was not allowed to write a check thereafter. Your mother might not be so lucky.
ReplyDeleteIt is good you found all the things people are coming in and taking!
What is this foam back roller of which you speak?
My grandma (after she had to go into hospital for a bit) thought there were gang members in her room. I put the foam roller info on today's post.
DeleteWell, that was some visit with your mom. Good thing you took that check.
