I see from my latest quarterly garbage service bill it went up about $2 a month, to $133/quarter. What do you all pay for weekly garbage service? Ours works out to $44.33/mo. When we lived in the large metro area it was only $27/mo and that included picking up recycle can. They don't have recycling here. We have weekly pick up, as well as our new neighbors who built down at the end of the street. Our other neighbors (who have lived here about 10 years) do not. We had kind of been wondering what they did with their garbage, when we first moved out here. She worked for a business in town that had a big dumpster and said she took it in there (for free), but then that business closed last year and she has to drive into the city to work. Not sure what they do with their garbage now, but they still don't have garbage service and they don't burn it. Maybe they just take it over to the nearby transfer station every so often.
Today's first headache is trying to figure out why dh's texted pictures are not going through to people. On my phone they show up as "tap to download" but nothing shows up. He can receive my pics though. So, then I thought it was an issue with my phone, but then he said others (that are iphone and non-iphone users) are not getting his pics either. I really have no idea what I might have done to maybe fix it, but I am getting his pics now. I also sent a couple pics to DD (non-iphone) and she received them. I told him I think it's working now, but maybe send the pics he was trying to send other friends again and see if they get them.
Headache #2.....remember a couple of months ago when DH's external hard drive crashed and I found a guy (sorta in the area) that does data recovery? I mailed him the hard drive. He replied the next day it was received. Per our phone call he said it would be about 2-3 weeks before he could get to it. Well, now it's been almost 2 months! We have been trying to get a hold of him for a month now. Several emails and voicemails. No response from him. WTH?! If he can't/doesn't want to do it, just say so, send it back, and we'll find someone else. We're to the point that I just looked up his personal home # in the phone book and we will give that a try. I just don't understand people.
Headache #3...my phone icloud is full. I don't want to pay for extra storage. I need to figure out how to copy all these either to my hard drive on pc or copy to the free storage with Amazon Prime...or something! and then figure out how to get them all off the cloud, so I have room again. I picked a bad day to mess around with this, LOL, but I'm tired of seeing the message "your phone has not backed up, your icloud storage is full". I keep trying to figure out how to download to my pc from online instructions and videos, but am only getting a handful of the 841 pictures and videos to download to my pc. I'm checking "download all". I'm not understanding how to do it.
Headache #4 - the back of my right leg continues to hurt every day I sit in this office chair. Weekends and days off are fine or sitting on sofa or other chair is fine. It just starts aching behind my leg ,just above the back of my knee and then usually travels down my calf and aches. Guess I need to go to the doctor, but they probably won't have a clue either. I've been trying to do gentle stretches again, every day, like I used to before it started hurting, but doesn't seem to help.
Our garbage is now $62/quarterly, up from $45/quarterly. I imagine it will go up again too. Our town has been in a battle with waste disposal contracts for at least a year now with no end in sight. My iphone cloud has been full for months. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to clear my cloud!!! If you figure it out, please post lol. I'm not as tech savvy as I thought I was when it comes to that damn cloud. And I would be chasing that guy down who had the hard drive, what a terrible way to handle business. Good help seems impossible to find.
ReplyDeletethat seems a very reasonable garbage fee. I'm still working on the damn cloud LOL. Apparently, it all downloaded, just took awhile...but I now realize there are a lot of recent pics on my phone not on the cloud storage because it was full. Still need to figure out how to clear it out now, so those can be saved to it.
DeleteA guy has had my laptop since 2016 and refuses to give it back. There is no way I can not have garbage pickup as it is a fee/tax that pays for leaf truck, recycling truck, garbage truck, limb truck. and a host of other services.
ReplyDeleteIs this a new chair? Have you tried another chair? I would check it out soon.
it's not a new chair and I have tried another desk chair we have and it did same thing, but not quite as bad :(
DeleteMy solid waste collection fees are part of the combined utilities bill for electricity, water, sewage, and solid waste collection (trash, recycling, and yard waste). The solid waste fee portion of the bill came to $71.64 for the past two months (I get billed every 2 months). So, approx. $36 per month. Except...the fees change from billing period to billing period! Based on the number of days in the billing period, I believe.
ReplyDeleteOur old house we were billed every 2 months, too. I guess this is higher cost because we are rural
DeleteOur garbage fee is only $18/mo. It gets picked up from our community garbage shed however (a locked shed with dumpsters), which is located about a mile from our house. So we have to drive the garbage down to the shed, but we can do that any time we want. And we have to go to the same place to pick up our mail so dropping off garbage is not a big deal.
ReplyDeletethat's an interesting system! but at least sounds like it's convenient for you
DeleteOur garbage fee is included in the yearly property tax and the monthly water bill. So, we do not even know how much they charge for the garbage. An American friend of mine is sharing the service with her neighbor. She takes her garbage and recycling cans to her neighbors the night before garbage collection. Her friend is on a tight budget due to losing her husband after a long and financially draining sickness. Neither of them generate too much trash. So, they share the cost.
ReplyDeletethat's smart to share the service! We are finally at a point where our garbage is "normal" without all the construction extra stuff.
DeleteWe pay our garbage bill bi-annually. It comes out to $15/month. Our trash company is odd though, that they often refuse to take "larger" things they see. I once had a rolled up 3x5 throw rug in the trash and they wouldn't take it. The following week I put it in a box and then they took it. Guess we need to hide our trash. I'm currently working on disposing of an old toilet. Last week I hid the seat in with my other garbage. This coming week they will get the lid tank. We could pay to dispose of items at a transfer station 20 miles away, but I've started treating this like a game. Lol
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the hard drive back. I know I'd be more than just a tad annoyed.
oh, that is odd. I wonder what their criteria is, LOL. We once had an old toilet we broke apart and put in the garbage can piece by piece over the weeks, LOL.
DeleteI also have to hide forbidden things in the trash. Sometimes, it takes weeks to get it all broken up and in bags.
DeleteI sold office furniture for a major manufacturer, and your leg problem is likely because of the chair. I had the same issue and had to adjust height, angle, etc. If the edge of the chair hits the back of your leg wrong, it causes problem. This might help: https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/adult-health/in-depth/office-ergonomics/art-20046169
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
thank you for the link. I've had the chair awhile and used it at our previous house, no problem, this just started a few months ago. But, also the whole time we were in the shop, DH was also now using this chair all the time to sit at the desk/his monitor when I wasn't working. I'm thinking maybe his weight changed it a bit? I'm trying our other desk chair again and also using a footrest today, to see how that does.
DeleteOh my, our trash is 45.00 quarterly. It would probably be cheaper if we paid yearly. We also have a "large trash" pick up quarterly, where all thing that wont fit in the regular trash can will be picked up, excluding tires and construction material. This is through or taxes in our city. Could you burn the burnable stuff, compost the compostable stuff and get a smaller can for a smaller fee?
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look into if there is a smaller can option, or maybe pick up every other week, now that we are in normal amount of garbage living.
