We were able to close yesterday. We signed at 9am and then had to wait for the keys until it funded and recorded, so it was about 1pm when we got the keys. The dang sellers were (and are) still trying to get crap out of there! They had the house done, but not the garage and the shop and still stuff outside around shop. They still have to come back Saturday (they are out of state working now). That was a bit annoying to say the least, and they actually left quite a bit of stuff inside too and I asked her if she wanted it and she said no. Gee....thanks for leaving me the junk to clean out of some drawers etc. Nothing major, but still annoying. We left our home spotless, of course.
Doesn't feel quite real to me yet. We are dead tired and unpacking is a lot of work and hard on my back, so we are just doing as much as we can. I got internet hooked up today and tested out my remote work connection and all was great. Whew! I'll be back to work Monday.
A good friend of DH's came late afternoon and helped him unload the u-haul. Thank God for him! We returned the u-haul this morning and the 2 guys at the place were so nice. They didn't even charge us for the extra 4 days!
The dogs are a bit confused but older dog finally started eating again today :) It was SOOOO nice to be back in my bed last night. I can't even tell you.........even though we had an extra bedfellow as younger dog had to sleep with us too, and he never likes to.
Still lots to unpack but we are getting there and do like the house. It's a bit smaller than we had, so trying to fit it in.
Thank goodness you are in, even tho you have to deal with others junk. Maybe there will be something of some value you can resell. Altho you are probably tired of dealing with that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole! it seems what they left behind is mostly junk, though there is one nice picture that was in the entry way closet and she said she didn't want it.
DeleteI have yet to move into a house where the previous owner didn't clear out all their crap. People today have just too much stuff!
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, you made it! You succeeded. You're in your 'new' home. Congratulations. I only wish you the best from here on in! Enjoy! YAY!
Thank you Cindi! What a long journey it has been to get here. Even though we've been busy it's already way more relaxing here :)
DeleteThis is hardly believable that you are actually in another house. It has been so long. When you get the energy, I would formally complain to the highest power of each entity with which you dealt.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I was pregnant, we moved, yet I managed to clean floors and remove our stuff completely. No, husband did not turn a finger.
I can imagine how relieved you are. All the shenanigans were stressing me!
Hopefully now I'll have good posts instead of stressful posts :) The wife/previous owner didn't work, either. There is no reason she couldn't have cleaned better. Oh well, I'm getting it done.
DeleteFinally! You made it! I am so happy for you. despite the fact that the previous owners are not nearly as considerate as you are, YOU MADE IT! No more frustration! Wish you the best! Looking forward to new home and yard stories...
ReplyDeleteThanks T'Pol. I'm looking forward to happier posts and even though the yard/lot is very small there is lots to fix up, so will keep us busy.
DeleteLong time lurker, first time commenter! YAY!! So excited for you!! DH and I took 5.5 years to sell our first house which by the way was left a total disaster when we bought it because we were young and didn't know better. Literally our first house we were left with 4 roofing trucks full of crap. It was ridiculous so when we sold we left our house spotless like you. Our 2nd house, we were left with a few things here and there but nothing major like our first house or heads would have rolled. I was really on the edge of my seat hoping it would end well for you after all of the frustrations you have dealt with and the incompetence of people! YAYAY!! Rest up! I know I wanted to get all of my boxes unpacked asap but sometimes you just have to slow down so you don't make yourself sick etc. Besides you will get there! Looking forward to hearing about your new house and yard! =-D
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to comment! I can't even imagine 4 roofing trucks full. The previous owners still have a bunch of stuff inside the shop and around it on the ground and are supposed to come back Saturday and get it all out. They better!
DeleteCongratulations on living through the selling, buying, and moving of the home. Why people think you would want your junk is beyond me. Cheryl
ReplyDeleteThank you Cheryl! If I lived through this I guess I can handle anything now. LOL
DeleteCongrats on the new house, and so glad you no longer have to deal with the awful neighbors! I hear ya on the previous owners not leaving a place clean. When we closed on our current home, we got the keys and walked in only to be greeted by the smell of dog urine. Thankfully most of the house is tiled. But still...Yuck!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am so glad, too. It's so much more relaxing here, that's for sure.
