work, work and more work

It's been a productive week, work wise. With all the payroll/HR company changes, all the meetings and trainings for almost 2 months, I've been getting behind on my normal day to day work. Way behind. I just now got June's financial reports done. And I just filed several quarters of city tax returns. Ugh. When we moved our HQ office to another city, our CPA didn't think we'd have to file anything in the old city. But, we still have a small office in that city, but we don't process any sales out of there. It's basically a spot where we have two support staff employees there FT, and it's used as a landing spot when sales people or customers need somewhere to stop and work a bit or pick up samples. There's really no way for me to determine what to report as our sales for that city. Between our CPA and the city, we determined we would use those 2 employees % of our total payroll as a % of our total sales and that's what I'd report. It only ends up to about $200 per quarter, so not much. The kicker is the annual business license for that city. $2400 a year! Just insane how much it keeps going up...it  used to be $190 a year a few years ago.  Anyhow, it felt good to get these to tasks off my to do list.

My boss is going to get some relief soon from some of her responsibilities. She also oversees our inside sales/cust. svc dept, which I know takes a lot of her daily time. They are now putting someone  as a dept manager for this department. I'm sure that will be a huge difference to my boss and her work load. I'm really happy to hear this news. If anyone needs a reduction in their work load, it's her.

Our neighbors are really having trouble with this new dog (3 yr old lab) they got. He's peeing in the house, on the 2 girl dogs, tearing up things in the house. Then he got in a fight with their male dog last week and they had to take him to the vet and he's now wearing a cone. Neighbor told DH he and wife are having a hard time agreeing about this new dog (ie arguing). At least he's not much of a barker. Hopefully, he'll settle in with them soon.

  1. Sounds like work is keeping you really busy! I'm sure it feels good to get some of the backlog cleared up. :) Hope your neighbor's new dog settles down. I imagine it can't be a lot of fun cleaning up after him!

    1. It doesn't sound like they are having much fun with him and then especially the extra vet bill when they already had to have major ACL surgery on one of the other dogs.

  2. Oooh the sound of your neighbour's dog REALLY puts me off getting one. I thought I might get one when I retired but I don't think I have the patience for that (or the desire to give up my freedom, I suppose)!

  3. Good thing that you cleared a lot of tasks on your list so that you can have a relaxing weekend. Your neighbors may have all the good intentions and they must really love dogs but training them and keeping them under control requires a lot of patience and time. Good thing that the lab does not bark much.

    1. I think they have really good intentions with the dogs, but neither seem to have much leadership or training skills with them. I really think dogs need people around all day, not away at work.

  4. I AM home all day, (for the most part) and honestly, can't even imagine another dog after these two we have go to the great dog bed in the sky. The big one is having accidents, (or deliberates) every night, no doubt from eating the apples which fall on the ground, and the little one needs to be walked several times a day, ALWAYS, it seems, when I am doing something else. Never again. That said, having had Labradors up until these two, I can tell you your neighbor's dog is asserting dominance. Labradors are sweeties, usually, but for the first three years or so of their lives, especially if they are unaltered males, they are the most destructive beings on the face of the earth. I told my DH that I was ready for teenage boys after raising male Labradors.
    HEY...it's Friday! Enjoy your weekend.

    1. I was just thinking the same "it's Friday, yay!". Yep, the new dog (and their other male dog) are unaltered. Neighbor mentioned to DH they didn't want to neuter the new dog because he's purebred. Well, if you don't have plans to stud him out (or whatever it's called) then what in the world difference does it make?. But, maybe by this age of the dog it wouldn't do any good for his behavior issues now anyway, I'm not sure. They've sure got their hands full right now. One getting very old, one just had ACL surgery, one new and behavior problems, wearing a cone. And one not liking it all. That would be too much for me. Ours are both lab mixes, neutered, and very sweet tempers. Neither was destructive, but someone was always home with them so they got corrected right away if they tried anything.
