I spent a good portion of yesterday Christmas shopping online. It was a bit frustrating. Websites didn't seem to be working right, too many choices and then when I'd choose it was out of stock, etc.
First up was I was ordering a couple of personalized stockings, one for the new kitty and one for my mom. I have ordered from them a few years ago but didn't save any log in info so was just going to check out as a guest, but it still wanted me to put in an email address, so I did. Then it came up with you have an account with this email address. So, then I had to reset the password. Ok fine. Then it wouldn't log me in. Then I was in and try to place the order and it want's me to sign in again, but through 1800 flowers, as they are all under one, apparently, and then it wouldn't let me log in with the new password. OMG. Just let me order the 2 damn stockings! Finally, after several tries I somehow got them ordered.
Then I decided to place a Walmart order online...I know, I know, just a glutton for punishment I guess. I decided to order the stuff to make the white chocolate bark and a bunch of other misc items. I don't know why Walmart will show an item is available for shipping and then when you put it in your cart it's only available for pick up. Eventually, I got this order completed and submitted, less the white chocolate chips.
I decided to try Target for that, along with several Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers. I did pretty well there. Got quite a few things. A couple of small hickory farms boxes, if dh wants to also give to the mail carrier and garbage man. Candy for stockings. 2 books for dd, a dvd for sil, the white chocolate chips, a 4 cup glass measuring cup for dd and some face masks for her stocking. A crossword puzzle book for seniors for my mom. Those little tree car fresheners for dh's stocking. I forgot I still had $17 left on a gift card, so for all I got my total was $103. I was looking online at my order status page and it shows I earned "2 Target Circle Votes". No clue what that means.
Later in the afternoon dd messaged me to see if maybe grandma (who is SO hard to buy for now) would like a throw blanket for her living room and a new top. I said yes and I was thinking of getting her a top, too but now I couldn't remember what size I got her last year. I found my order email from Blair last year and it was size large. So, I started looking at what they have to offer. Saw a cute top that was on clearance so I sent the link to dd. Told her I'll order one too so if she want's me to add the top she is getting to my order, we'd get free shipping. Then I looked for something I could get her. Found one and of course it's on backorder. Look look look. Find another one but it's $49, just for a short sleeved top. I was messaging with dd and said maybe I'm just being cheap, but that seems expensive and she thought so, too. I said I'll look at Kohl's. Then Kohl's had same brand and they were ever more than that! By that point I was over shopping for the day and didn't get anything ordered yet. I hadn't found anything else that I really liked at Blairs and Kohl's appeared to have 200 pages of tops and the first handful I looked through were young peoples type. I'll look at Blair again today and find something. I'm also going to get her some socks, LOL. When I was doing her laundry I noticed her white socks were getting really thin at the heals. It's hard to shop for an 80 year old. I'm doing candy and the crossword book for her stocking. I think I'll get her a calendar still, too. I've always given her one. I don't think she uses it so much now, but it's still something that is "familiar" to her to have on her wall.
The app for her medicine dispenser was still showing online and offline off and on. Finally it was online (she had taken her morning) and finally the app I downloaded for her internet/voice/tv service showed everything as "connected". Then later off again. So, it's obviously something wrong on their end. At least I know it's not something my mom is doing!
It has started snowing this morning and the weather app shows it snowing all day.
Well, on to work. Have some bank reconciliations to get done.
I have had similar experiences as the first paragraph! It is infuriating. I usually think I have done something wrong, but obviously not. I was looking up something and went to one site. THEN, there were 2000 choices I had to go through a dozen at a time. I quit.
ReplyDeleteI tried to order something, and it wouldn't let me finish checking out. I figured too many were using the site. I tried another day with same results. I kept getting emails to finish my order. Today I decided to call and go through an operator. That worked out fine. She did have a heavy accent, but we were able to understand each other.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and uncle used to like the chocolate and candy covered fruit that I used to find at Costco. I agree they are hard to buy for.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was done, after having sizes sell out faster than I could keep up, but finally hit submit. Now have message two items out if stock. I'm using my Kohl's cash in store to finish!
ReplyDeleteI always send a food gift, usually nuts and dried fruit or chocolate to my BFF who lives in the US for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I order them online on Amazon. So far, didn't have a problem but, clothing items are a different story. Especially during the holiday season, some sizes get snatched up so quickly.
ReplyDeleteoh! I forgot to mention my ordeal with trying to order cat and dog stocking stuffers from Chewy.com! Their website is like half working. I got 3 cat items in my cart. Added 3 dog items and they weren't in cart. Then I realized that on every dog item page the whole top section of their website was blank/missing. Like the part where you can search and the link to your cart. I finally changed over to a different web browser and was able to get that order in.
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to put a tangerine in the toe of our stockings. She said it used up space in the stocking. LOL
