I haven't shopped at the big "W" much this year, especially after the way we were treated at the vision center. I used to spend probably close to $200 a week there between food and misc things. I needed to get grocery shopping done this morning and I was out and about pretty early so decided to just go to Walmart as it is closest and shouldn't have any crowds so early. Got all my groceries and stuff and pulled up to the checkstand just as another person was leaving.
Not a hello, how are ya? Nothin'. When he handed me my receipt, not a thank you or good bye. Nothin'. Must have been the kind of mood I was in or something but I totally bit my tongue not to say anything about it to him and then got out to my car and wished I had said something. So, when I got home I called and talked to the customer service manager about it. She was like "he didn't even greet you?!". Nope. Nothin'. I said I know it really sucks to have to work for a living, but he could have at least said hello, might make his day go better, you know? Now I remember one of the reasons I stopped shopping there!
I hate shopping there! I do my best to avoid it at all costs!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately everything about Walmart has gone steadily down hill over the past few years.
ReplyDeleteThat exact same thing makes me absolutely NUTS when I go through a checkout. Some of these young kids don't say squat. Not Hello. Not Thank you. Which is basically ALL they have to say to make me happy. I don't expect them to converse with me. But basic courtesy has kept me out of more than one store, and one time I did catch the manager on the way out and told him there ARE other grocery stores at which I CAN shop where I can expect to at LEAST get a hello and thank you. It's TOTALLY unexcusable. Glad you called and told them. Wonder if anything was even said to him?
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. I don't expect them to hold a conversation with me, but I do at least expect a hello and a thank you. The customer service manager said she would tell his supervisor.
DeleteYeah, that can really make or break your day. If you are in customer service you need to be at least friendly!
ReplyDeleteMost of the checkers here at our W are pretty friendly but when I come up against one who is not and says nothing I look them straight in the eye with a smile and say "Hello! How are you? I hope you're having a great day and if not, smile it will make your day better!" well what do you say to that? It usually works.. LOL I don't let people get away with being rude to me.. I was always taught to "kill em with kindness" and it works!
